To Our Residents:
Thankfully, our city water problems are now over. Look at the pictures of our new system. New inlet pipes, a pressure booster pump and more pipes. Since the city forced us to install a Backflow Valve on our side of the water inlet pipes, our water pressure fell from the street level of 48 pounds per square inch (PSI) by 10, the pressure for each floor was reduced until the fifth floor water was reduced to only a trickle.
That fact of life forced us to install a water pressure booster motor and, of course, when the pump is out of order, another set of pipes to bypass it. The point of all this information is to explain the $16,000.00 cost which came totally out of the blue – unexpected and an unplanned cost. Now that all this improvement has been installed and adjusted, the good news arrives. The pump has a variable speed that is governed by the water pressure on the outlet side. That means that when you take a show and fifteen other people suddenly decide to do the same, your pressure will be maintained by the pump speeding up to keep the pressure at a level rate.
The Board of Directors wishes to thank everyone and a few special people for their forbearance during this project. The Board wishes to send the city of Fort Myers a thank you note for their removing our old backflow valve when they installed the water controls above ground and not letting us know and then years later springing the high extra expense on our unprepared budget. As they say, “At least we have our health.”
